Foundation Honors Leaders in Cancer Prevention

In October 2008, the Cronin Foundation recognized two legislative leaders who have made significant contributions to its work of awareness and prevention. The 2008 M. Patricia Cronin Prevention Award is voted by the Board of Directors and goes to individuals or organizations who have made an essential contribution to the mission of the Foundation - to increase public awareness of ovarian cancer, promote research and support ovarian cancer patients and their families. The 2008 Prevention Awards were presented to the Honorable Robert A. DeLeo and the Honorable Steven C. Panagiotakos in recognition of their support of funding for the statewide awareness campaign. The awards were presented by the Honorable Therese Murray, Senate President and a member of the Foundation's Advisory Board. Senator Murray was joined by Senator Joan Menard, a previous award winner and Advisory Board member; and Senator Steve Tolman, who graciously served as auctioneer.
